International- Libassonline.com || Secretary General of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan), Hasto Kristiyanto, has again fulfilled the summons of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to be questioned as a witness in the alleged bribery case involving former member of the General Election Commission (KPU), Wahyu Setiawan. This questioning is related to the alleged bribe given by Harun Masiku, a PDI Perjuangan cadre, related to the replacement of members of the DPR for the 2019-2024 period. Hasto arrived at the KPK this morning, December 24, 2024, accompanied by his attorney, Roni Talapesi, at the KPK’s Red and White building.
This case began in January 2020, when the KPK arrested Wahyu Setiawan, a KPU Commissioner who was suspected of accepting bribes from Harun Masiku. On January 9, 2020, the KPK named Harun Masiku as a suspect in the bribery case. However, Harun Masiku’s whereabouts are still a mystery, and he has been included in the wanted list (DPO).
The Ministry of Law and Human Rights and the Directorate General of Immigration confirmed that Harun Masiku had been abroad, but on July 30, 2021, Interpol issued a red notice for him. The search for Harun Masiku resurfaced after the KPK examined a number of related parties in May 2024 and believed that Harun Masiku was still in Indonesia.
And regarding this case, it has received increasing public attention, along with the increasing intensity of demonstrations demanding the arrest of Harun Masiku.
Separately, the General Chairperson of the PDI Perjuangan, Megawati Soekarno Putri, also spoke out regarding Hasto’s examination process. Megawati highlighted the actions of KPK investigators who confiscated Hasto’s cellphone and party notebook. She expressed her disappointment with this step and even suspected that she would be the next target of examination.
Megawati further emphasized that she was ready to face KPK investigators if summoned, while reminding that she had also been summoned by law enforcement before. “I dare to come, you don’t be afraid, he even gave an ultimatum that law enforcement at the KPK is not political, and I will take action if Hasto is arrested by the KPK,” Megawati said in a statement.
It is known that the news of Hasto Kristiyanto’s determination as a suspect emerged through the circulation of a notification letter of the commencement of the investigation (sprindik) with the number Sprin.Dik/153/DIK.00/01/12/2024 dated December 23, 2024.
Hasto was named a suspect by the KPK through a case title or expose on December 20, 2024 or the same day as the handover of office (sertijab) of the new KPK leadership. The Sprindik stated that Hasto together with Harun Masiku were the parties who gave bribes to former KPU Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan.
Here are 3 strong statements from Megawati regarding the legal case involving Hasto Kristiyanto:
1. Threatens to Storm the KPK
PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) Chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri said she would visit the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) if PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto was arrested and detained by the KPK. “I said, if you are arrested, I will come. I’m not lying. Why? I am the chairwoman. Responsible for my people. He is my secretary general,” Megawati emphasized.
2. Challenges KPK Investigators
PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) Chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri challenged the KPK investigators who questioned Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto to meet and confront her. Hasto was even asked to name the investigators who questioned him at the KPK. “I said the one who called Hasto was named AKBP Rossa. Write it down. Alay, if you dare to write it, I will raise my hand to the journalists. It’s easy, who is he (Kompol Rossa)?,” said Megawati. It should be noted that the AKBP Rossa that Megawati meant was AKBP Rossa Purbo Bekti, one of the Heads of the Task Force (Kasatgas) at the KPK. Megawati was not afraid to meet and confront AKBP Rossa. “I would dare if you told me to come here, Rossa, tell me to come and confront me. Oh, yeah, crazy, I’m the one who founded the KPK. Why don’t you admit it!,” Megawati said.
3. Bumping the Chief of Police
The Chairperson of the PDIP, Megawati Soekarnoputri threatened to go to the Chief of Police, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, if the Secretary General of the PDIP, Hasto Kristiyanto, was arrested by the authorities. “So I said to Hasto, ‘don’t be afraid, later if you are taken (arrested), I will go to the Chief of Police’, that’s what I said,” said Megawati.
“Is always teach always teaches that truth is truth. I even asked. I asked a constitutional expert, a lawyer, what is my fault really. Think about it, try if you can. But they don’t dare to take me. So the targets are around me,” concluded the PDIP General Chairman.
Separately, activist 98 Kamper questioned the harsh statement of the White-Muzzled Bull Party General Chairman. Aren’t all the same in the eyes of the law?, so what is it called, threats?. “This is the millennial era, no longer the Feudal era where the social and political system gave great power to the nobility,” explained Kamper, Tuesday (12/24).
“Moreover, with a social system that glorifies position or rank, not work performance, absolute obedience from subordinates to their superiors,” concluded Kamper.
